“As soon as I saw the Salish Waves Folio Palette announced for Sketcher Fest, I knew I had to have one to house the curated colors I brought to Alaska! I stalked your socials at least three times a day waiting for the announcement they were for sale on the website and snatched it up the moment I saw it!”

Row 1: Quinacridone Magenta, Cadmium-free Yellow Pale, Hooker’s Green, Terre Verte, Aqua green, Ultramarine Ash, Manganese Blue Hue, Antwerp Blue, Winsor Blue (Red Shade), Winsor Violet.

Row 2: Raw Umber, Van Dyke Brown, Mineral Grey, Lamp Black, Titanium White, Random Grey 2026 (Schmincke).

Row 3: (All Schmincke) Glacier Green, Glacier Turquoise, Glacier Blue, Glacier Black, Glacier Brown.

“The Winsor & Newton colors were all chosen by me and my best friend, who lived in Alaska for many years and was also my travel agent, to best paint the landscapes of interior and Southeast Alaska. The Schmincke colors I threw in because I couldn't resist painting a glacier with Glacier paints!”

Cindy wrote, “It took me a while to decide on how to configure my new Salish palette this time, and I wanted to try to keep it simple with fewer colors. It all sounds so good in theory, but in practice I am always missing whatever color I don’t have on my palette. After seeing one of the other set-ups I think I’m going to go in the opposite direction next and have MANY different colors in the mini pans. Off to order more Mini Pans.”

Vicky writes, “I love this palette so much! I made several custom mixes for this palette for an earthy autumn feel, stirring the watercolors right in the larger pans with toothpicks.” We love hearing about the ways that artists customize their pan layouts and their pigment mixes!

Vicky’s palette includes 12 Double Pans, one Small Mixing Pan, and one Large Mixing Pan. Her paints are all Daniel Smith except for a few by Schmincke (S):
