Layers of Watercolor

The absorbent flat shape of the Neptune 1" Mottler is ideal for covering large areas quickly and evenly, such as for skies or background washes. You can also turn the brush on edge to achieve sharp lines in your paintings.

It has a short, flat handle made of solid wood, and the soft, synthetic bristles of Princeton’s Neptune™ series of watercolor brushes are designed to mimic the supple fibers of squirrel.

Compact and travel-size, the Neptune 1" Mottler tucks neatly into both Pocket and A5 Art Toolkits.

Running the Brush Through Its Paces

The wide, flat bristles of the Neptune 1" Mottler lay down paint and ink evenly. Explore shape with semi-circles and create ribbons by dragging and wiggling the brush side-to-side.

Vibrant magenta paint strokes in various shapes, including a thick horizontal band at the top, a thin horizontal line in the middle, and two semi-circular shapes at the bottom.
