Meditative Trees with Marisa Pahl

Marisa invites us to tap into the sensory elements of painting as a way to access flow.

A hand holds a fine brush over a colorful watercolor painting featuring curved, striped lines. A palette of vibrant colors sits beside the artwork on a wooden table, with a few painted sheets in the background.

This is a recording of our live demo from April 29th, 2022 with Marisa Pahl, inspired by the Douglas Fir tree.

Marisa shares what she's learned about Douglas Firs and how painting can pull us into the present moment. We begin with some mark-making and color mixing and do a quick contour line drawing of a Douglas Fir before moving into a longer meditative prompt that focuses on the textures of the wood. Marisa invites us to tap into the sensory elements of painting as a way to access flow.
