“Watercolor Fundamentals with Maria Coryell-Martin is an incredibly informative workshop containing a semester's worth of information on materials, color, technique, and composition. I appreciated the organized lessons, clear, positive, and patient instruction, detailed demonstrations, and web accessibility. Being able to access the course at your own pace and rewind and rewatch demonstrations for an entire year is invaluable.” —Judy Higuchi
“I adored Maria's Watercolor Fundamentals class. I've been dabbling with watercolors and online tutorials but never had anyone start with the basics of paint and pigments and quickly move on to what interests me most, painting the natural world. The limited palette and consistent messages gave me confidence to proceed on my own.” —Kim Springer
“I have taken several online introduction to watercolor courses and this was by far the best. I loved the depth of content in the curriculum, the pace of learning new skills each week, and the demonstrations that doubled as paint-along sessions. I also appreciated the superb quality of the instruction. Maria has a wealth of experience as a professional painter and it was amazing to watch her clearly and eloquently break down complicated scenes into building blocks of shape, color, texture and value. Her warmth and humor made her an excellent teacher and guide. I am so grateful I signed up for this class!” —Sarah Brace
About Maria Coryell-Martin
Maria Coryell-Martin is an expeditionary artist following the tradition of traveling artists as naturalists and educators. Since 2005, she has focused on painting polar and glaciated regions, working with scientists and on expeditions in the Pacific NW, Alaska, Canada, Greenland, and the Antarctic Peninsula.
In the field, she sketches with ink and watercolor, and collects multimedia recordings to build her palette of place: a record of experience, climate, and color.
