About the Workshop

Join us online on Saturday, November 21st from 8am–10:30am Pacific for Still Life Triptych: Shift Your Perspective with Koosje Koene!

How you frame a subject changes everything! In this workshop, learn about the power of changing your view from wide and expansive to close and intimate, and everything in between. Explore how small shifts like stepping back, zooming in, rotating around, or looking down at a subject shape the story your art conveys. Even the most familiar subjects become fresh and exciting with the practice of changing your perspective.

Using waterproof sketching materials, Koosje will guide participants through three line drawings on a single page to practice variable framing. Koosje will share tips for loosely adding in watercolor to bring cohesion to the finished triptych. Through the process of observation and changing views, Koosje encourages everyone to use what they have, and keep it simple!

Workshop Structure

This workshop has two options available for purchase: Live Access or Recorded Access.

Live Access includes the opportunity to join the 2-hour workshop call, with an additional 30 minutes for asking questions, sharing art, and receiving feedback from the instructor.

Recorded Access includes all workshop materials and access to the 2-hour workshop recording for those who wish to work at their own pace. The recording is available the week following the live call date, and will be available for twelve months. If the workshop is renewed for another year, your recorded access will remain for the duration of the renewal.

All participants, regardless of access level, will have access to the workshop recording for a minimum of twelve months after the purchase date. We also invite you to join the Art Toolkit Learning Community, a space to share art, creative musings, questions, and inspiration! After signing up for any of our workshops, watch for the Art Toolkit Learning Community invitation in your inbox to get started.

Select either “Live Access” or “Recorded Access” and add to cart. Important: You are not registered until you have completed checkout.

We will send you a payment receipt by email. If you don’t see it, please check your junk mail folder, and add hello@arttoolkit.com to your contacts.

When you have completed checkout, you’re in!

After Checkout

Once you have completed checkout, you will receive an email with an invite link to our learning platform, Circle, within an hour of your purchase. If you don’t see this email after making your purchase, check your spam or promotions folders.

The access details and syllabus will be under your Course Dashboard.

Getting into Circle

Once you receive our email with the invitation link, you will be prompted to either create a new account or sign in to your existing Circle account. If you already have an account, this link will add your new workshop to your Dashboard.

About Koosje Koene

Koosje Koene (KO-sha KOO-na) is an artist, illustrator, writer, and art teacher based in the Netherlands. Her mission is simple: get people drawing, without being precious about it. She believes everything becomes interesting when you draw it, and that drawing teaches you to truly see the world around you.

Koosje teaches online and offline classes and workshops, sharing why creativity makes you happy and how it can change the way you see the world. Since 2013, she has shared drawing tips in her weekly YouTube series, “Draw Tip Tuesday,” and offers additional guidance and inspiration through her Patreon. Koosje co-founded the online art school, Sketchbook Skool, in 2014, and she is the author of Life is Better When You Draw (It).
