Artist Talk with Maria Coryell-Martin: Sketching with Purpose
9am at the Graphite Arts Center: Check in at the lot behind Graphite.
Tickets to Artist Talks will be available for purchase during the general sale starting March 21st.
Transform your creative passion into purposeful projects using outcome-based planning. Through examples from my experiences as an expeditionary artist, I’ll provide you with a framework to apply to your own creative projects, big or small. You’ll gain practical tools and prompts to envision your goals, identify your audience, consider resources, and create a narrative thread to bring your artistic vision to life.
Workshop with Maria Coryell-Martin: Elements of Nature
2pm–5:30pm at the Graphite Arts Center: Check in at the lot behind Graphite.
Workshops are limited in seats, so be sure to submit your request for a workshop seat by March 14th, and learn more about tickets here. Note: On the request form, Maria’s workshop is under the Afternoon Workshop Selection, “W19 Elements of Nature - Maria Coryell-Martin.”
Dive into watercolor painting as we practice techniques for sketching elements of nature on location! We’ll explore approaches for painting atmospheric skies, capturing light on water, and expressive beaches, trees, and foliage. We’ll practice working fast with watercolor as we layer washes across multiple compositions. From loose wet-in-wet strokes to gestural dry brush, discover confident mark-making and learn to embrace the spontaneous beauty of watercolor.
