Introducing Art Toolkit Washi Tape

Add an aesthetic touch to watercolor paintings and craft projects with our washi tape.

We’re excited to present a new addition to our shop: Art Toolkit Washi Tape!

Modeled initially after traditional Japanese paper designs, washi tape was invented by a Japanese masking tape company for use in arts and crafts, commonly featuring a repeating art or design pattern that runs the length of the roll. Our washi tape features the Art Toolkit logo, a hexagonal paintbrush graphic, which repeats on a semi-transparent white background.

A vibrant splash of blue watercolor is surrounded by black pen nib icons, creating an artistic and dynamic composition.

A watercolor palette with various colors sits next to a sketchbook featuring a vibrant purple brushstroke and black ink splatters.

Washi Tape removes cleanly, making it a versatile tape for many contexts. You can use it for masking flowing watercolor paintings, fixing paper mementos and other light objects into sketchbooks, and decorating letters to friends. It slips easily into the horizontal pockets of both the Pocket and A5 Art Toolkits, allowing you to carry it conveniently on the go.

Made from rice paper and printed with soy-based ink and a water-based coating, Art Tookit Washi Tape is fully biodegradable. After you’re done with it, you’re free to compost or recycle it for a low environmental impact.

Our Retail and Customer Service Specialist Morgan Terry has this to say about the new addition to our supplies: “I’ve used Washi Tape in my notebook and really like the width. Not so big that it takes up a lot of space on a small page, but big enough to make it worthwhile. I like that it has some transparency to it, and it adds a nice geometrical element.”
