Trail Tiles by Trailbound Sketches

“Have fun, make mistakes, and create what you want to see.”

Facing a blank page can sometimes feel intimidating, especially with a complicated or expansive subject. You might wonder, “Where do I begin?” and “How do I get started?” To help answer these questions, our friend Max Romey and his team at Trailbound Sketches has created Trail Tiles, a beautiful small set of Hahnemühle paper contained within a slim, hinged metal tin.

Inside are 25 sheets of 3.5" x 3.5" round-cornered watercolor paper. Hahnemühle’s 100% cotton paper handles watercolor beautifully and is smooth enough for ink and mixed media.

Their small format invites exploration and the satisfaction of finishing something quickly. The loose-leaf format also makes for an easy gift to share with a friend or to display on your wall at home.

The tin can be slipped into either size of our Art Toolkits, and our Pocket and Demi Palettes can nestle inside the metal lid while sketching.

One Million People Sketching

Max Romey’s passion for adventure and sketching has led him on a path to get a million people sketching in the next three years! He and his team developed these small-format, high-quality Trail Tiles to help achieve that goal: Trail Tiles can go anywhere you can, and they are a wonderful way to get out and make that first mark.

“The small format is a perfect little size to create something really fun when you don’t have much time.”

Exploring Trail Tiles

While camping with friends at Salt Creek on the Strait of Juan De Fuca, Maria Coryell-Martin had fun playing with the new Trail Tiles while her daughter and friend ran around the beach.

“With limited time and distracted by kids, I loved that I could complete some small sketches to capture the colors and memories from my day. The small format takes less time to complete, and the rounded corners contribute to their sense of being a keepsake. It’s a fun change from using a sketchbook!”

For a super compact kit, you can leave half of your Trail Tile paper at home and tuck a Demi Palette inside the tin for small, light-weight alternative to your Toolkit.
