The Sketcher Fest Palette

Celebrating Sketcher Fest with an emerald green Folio Palette.

By The Art Toolkit Team

A green sketchbook and a black pen are positioned on a wooden surface, accompanied by a beige tote bag featuring the "Sketcher Fest Edmonds" logo. The sketchbook shows a landscape drawing, and a green pencil case is also visible in the background.

After the success of the first-annual Sketcher Fest in 2023, we couldn’t wait to mark our calendars for 2024 and were overjoyed to attend again this July!

Sketcher Fest Edmonds is an event that celebrates urban sketchers, travel sketchbook artists, art vendors, publishers, and our flourishing community during a weekend of workshops, exhibits, and sketching activities in Edmonds, Washington.

A Custom Engraving for the Sketcher Fest Palette

These empty Folio Palettes feature the Sketcher Fest logo on the back.

Last year, we joined artists and makers at the annual Sketcher Fest in Edmonds, Washington, and were overwhelmed by the creative inspiration we witnessed. This year we wanted to make something special for the event. Working with local artist and educator Che Lopez, we dreamed up an emerald green Sketcher Fest Folio Palette with engraving art inspired by the shoreline of Puget Sound. From Edmonds looking west, you can see the Olympic Mountains, the choppy waves of the Sound, and birds in flight.

These Folio Palettes were sold empty, inviting you to get creative with a pan arrangement that suits your style and needs. In the end, no two Sketcher Fest Palettes are the same! The palette backs feature the Sketcher Fest logo.

About This Collaboration

Local artist and educator Che Lopez collaborated with us to create this limited-edition palette, available in time for Sketcher Fest Edmonds this year.

Maestro Lopez is a teaching artist at Summit Atlas High School in West Seattle. This June, he saw his first mentor group of four years graduate. As he prepares for the fall and the next group of mentees, Che reflects on people’s inquiry as to why he would I go back and teach in a High School. To that, he shares, “What is the use of not sharing my knowledge of the arts for over 25 years? I want to pay it forward for everyone that helped me along the way to become the artist I am. Young people need to see someone like me, teaching the passion I have for arts.”

10% of the proceeds of each palette were donated for use in Che’s art classroom in West Seattle.

We can’t wait to see how you choose to fill your palettes—which pans, which paints—and we would love to see what you create with them! Tag us on Facebook or Instagram @ArtToolkit so we can see!
