We asked participants to share photos of what they created during this year’s Late Spring Workshop Series led by wonderful instructors Mike Daikubara, Claire Giordano, and Barbara Luel.

Sketch Now, Think Later with Mike Daikubara

In Mike’s workshop, participants got to sketch and paint a scene from a cozy café, sketching right alongside Mike as he shared his process step by step. Mike is an easygoing instructor full of tips and tricks to break down an overwhelming scene for the learning artist. We loved seeing seeing everyone’s different sketches from his workshop!

Monochromatic Landscapes with Claire Giordano

In Claire’s workshop, participants explored values by using a single pigment to paint Washington State’s beautiful Mount Rainier (Tahoma). Claire is a thorough and encouraging instructor who guided students through her workshop, explaining each step in detail as she went. We loved seeing what everyone created during her workshop, all with a single pigment!

Thumbnail Magic with Barbara Luel

In Barbara’s workshop, participants painted a few mini-scenes provided by Barbara, capturing the feel of a place in tiny paintings. Barbara is an encouraging instructor who excels at a loose and lively approach to color and composition. We loved seeing what everyone created during her workshop!
