A person in a small wooden boat is rowing on a calm, deep blue body of water. The sunlight reflects off the surface, creating a shimmering effect. The individual is wearing a striped shirt, a wide-brimmed hat, and sandals.

Art Toolkit founder Maria Coryell-Martin takes a pause from rowing to sketch a Port Townsend waterfront scene.

Prepare for sketching on your adventures, whether exploring Port Townsend or sailing around a far-flung island!

Join expeditionary artist and Art Toolkit founder Maria Coryell-Martin at the Wooden Boat Festival’s Boat Yard Stage on Saturday, September 6th from 1pm–2pm for a presentation on exploring fundamental sketching techniques and essential tools for creating colorful and expressive sketches. We will have Art Toolkit Explore Palettes and Aquash Water Brushes for you to borrow, as well as some for sale! Come join us for a morning of sketching, a day of fun at Wooden Boat Festival, and visit our shop just a short four blocks away after the presentation to check out more of our adventure art supplies. Enjoy 10% off store-wide when you show us your Festival wristband September 5th-7th.

We hope to see you there!

About the Wooden Boat Festival

The Wooden Boat Festival is a ticketed event, and our presentation is just one of dozens of events taking place that day.

Featuring hundreds of wooden vessels, dozens of indoor and outdoor presentations and demonstrations, a who’s who of wooden boat experts, and thousands of wooden boat enthusiasts—there’s something to do, someone to meet, or a boat to board at every turn. Expanded a little each year, the Festival honors its traditions while inviting energetic debate and demonstration about the latest innovations in boatbuilding, equipment, skills, and adventure. To learn more about the Festival and purchase tickets visit their website: woodenboat.org.
