A watercolor sketch depicting a group of three men seated under an umbrella at a café, engaged in conversation. A woman is illustrated on the side, holding a drink and focused on something in her hand. The scene captures a relaxed outdoor atmosphere.

This is a recording from our live demo, 1 Week, 100 People with Suhita Shirodkar on February 25th, 2026.

In this hands-on demo session, urban sketcher Suhita shared tips for completing her favorite annual sketching challenge, #OneWeek100People, which will take place this year from March 9th–13th. Suhita demonstrated speed-sketch techniques and invites everyone join her in sketching a bustling scene full of people.

Follow Along and Sketch

Suhita shared her sketchbook pages from the demo.

Highlights from the Demo

Suhita shared some great tips for capturing people with us.

  • Drawing a crowd is more technically forgiving than traditional figure drawing or portraiture because you are capturing the energy of the movement and the atmosphere of the scene!

  • Her favorite tool, and the one she would take on location if she was limited to one tool, is the Sailor Fude De Mannen Fountain Pen.

  • If the subject of your sketch moves out of view, look for someone else with a similar stride to finish the first figure.

Suhita is hosting free online sketching sessions where she’ll be sketching 15 people in 30 minutes, from Monday, March 9th through Thursday, March 12th from 9am to 9:30am Pacific.
