A Palette of Place

Lorene Edwards Forkner is a garden writer and self-described "horticolorist." Lorene takes one thing from her garden, sometimes a flower or a plant, or sometimes an unusual rock or a bumblebee, and paints each of its colors individually in a grid. The result is an eye-catching study that shows her love and attention to horticulture.

Eight vibrant colors

Explore yellow-green mixes for bright, fresh growth, and add green with reds, pink, and purple for deep, earthy tones. Paint colorful flowers with a range of warm colors and mix complementary colors for a variety of browns, such as pink or red mixed with green or orange mixed with blue. Jadeite Genuine and Carbazole Violet create a beautiful grey together. Experiment and have fun!
